223d
223d is an Design/Engineering company. Our aim is to produce product designs that are not only innovative and design conscious but engineered correctly, reducing time to market and ultimately increasing sales and profit.
We are pleased to announce that on the 15th November 2002 Mike Bailey (Owner of 223d) qualified as a:
"Certified SolidWorks Professional"

"Just under 2 years ago 223d took on SolidWorks as their primary CAD package, due to popular demand. This Certification is a mark in the sand giving people an indication of 223d's real world abilities, leaving your imagination as the only limiting factor. This is a bold thing to say when you have Customers as Imaginative as we have" Mike Bailey. CSWP |
Some of the things we pride ourselves on are:
This website is an attempt at giving you an insight into the capabilities of 223d.

2 years ago 223d took on Solidworks as their primary CAD package. There are several good reasons for this:
SolidWorks
compatibly with other programs
SolidWorks has always been able to import a mass of file formats, not all
of them exceptionally well. With other programs, such as Rhino and Mechanical
Desktop in our arsenal, we are now able to import most file formats keeping
model integrity.
Advanced
surfacing capability
Only recently, SolidWorks has been able to handle some of the more refined
surface construction techniques. With a lot of our customers asking for "
organic shapes ", ( as fashion dictates ), and the involvement in the marine
industry, we have always had a need for Surfacing to create these objects.
SolidWorks is now becoming quite an advanced surfacing tool. Also, with some
of the additional programs that add to SolidWorks, it is possible to do all
the complicated surfacing required.
Customer
compatibility
The SolidWorks
network has become very large on both the supplier and the customer side.
A compatibility with file types is essential to maintain project inertia,
and the massive user base of SolidWorks helps this immensely. One of the problems
that we have found is the non-compatibility between earlier versions of SolidWorks
and the current version. As all the versions of SolidWorks use the Parasolid
Kernel, saving as a Parasolid of an earlier version will allow users of earlier
versions of SolidWorks to import data with 100% model integrity, off course
non of the Feature data is preserved, but this is one of the shortcomings
that people have to accept if they are not prepared to keep up with their
SolidWorks maintenance.
E-drawings
The creation of the e-drawings was our deciding factor on adopting SolidWorks.
This system allows customers to see ongoing progress on a project in 3D, and
allowing there input and guidance. With e-drawings pro, additionally it is
possible to send models that can be measured and marked up, this further extends
the capabilities of e-drawings. All the time the e-drawing keeps its source
code, this allows files to be given to competitors, or potential customers,
in a format that can't easily be copied. All this with a very small file size.
This make the e-Drawing a fantastic tool.
